Installation on each computer

On each computer, set up a command to tell PBS Endo the location of the Dexis programs and what to name the data file for this computer.  The command is placed in the Environment Variables.  Key in all commands in upper case.

For Windows 2000: Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, and System.  Select the Advanced Tab, and the Environment Variables button.

For Windows XP:  Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, and System.  Select the Advanced Tab, and the Environment Variables button.

To set up the environment variable:

In the field titled Name, key in PBSDEXIS

In the field titled Value, key in the path that corresponds to the location of the TigerView program.    For example:  C:\DEXIS\DEXIS.EXE @F:\PBSW\XPATINF.XXX

The command is in two sections.

C:\DEXIS\DEXIS.EXE  -->  Where is the Dexis program installed for this computer?  This part of the command is usually the same for each computer.

 @F:\PBSW\XPATINF.XXX

@F:\PBSW  -->  The Drive letter after the @ sign should correspond to C:\ on the server or on a standalone workstation. On a networked workstation, the drive letter is usually the server root directory.

F:\PBSW\XPATINF.  -->  is the same for each computer.  Keep the unique file name in an '8.3' standard with eight characters as the file name and three characters as the extension.

The XXX part of the command cannot have spaces, can only be a total of three characters, and must be unique for each computer.   For example, WK1, WK2, WK3  etc.

Daily Use

With PBS Endo running, make your Currently Selected patient the one whose radiographs you want to either create or review. Make sure Dexis is NOT running.

From the Daily Activity menu in PBS Endo, click on Radiography to launch Dexis. PBS Endo  automatically passes the Currently Selected patient’s information to Dexis. PBS Endo passes the PBS account and member number to Dexis.

Dexis will either display this patient’s current radiographs, or allow you to capture new ones.

When finished with this patient, close Dexis.
